Plan

The Plan is about taking your selected COA and further developing/refining it.

Give it enough structure that it could be given to an Ops O for eventual production into a Battle Group (BG) Order.

Details must flow from Deductions and amplify information provided in the selected FCOA.

E.G. from the PG, CI, etc., that you identified earlier

Include a Grouping and Tasks Matrix.

Groupings are a zero sum game; what comes into the BG must be arrayed along the top line and what is detached from one subunit must be attached to another.

Return to the Assessment of Tasks portion of the Estimate and ensure all tasks are assigned to your subunits.

Key Coordinating Instruction/Service Support/Command and Signals: The key word is 'key'. Don't belabour these areas.

Use 'See trace' whenever possible and ensure that your final trace (diagram) includes requisite detail.

Timings come from your Time and Space section - you've already deduced when you should issue orders, etc.

Review your deductions for coordinating, support and command and control (C2) and note it here.

What key Combat Service Support (CSS) issues must be covered that are not Unit Standing Operating Procedure (USOP)?

What key Command and Signals issues must be covered that fell out of your plan?
